About the TIP Center

A national initiative transforming how first responders
support children and families affected by trauma.

Our Mission

The National Center for Trauma-Informed Policing (TIP Center), led by Family Service of Rhode Island (FSRI), is a nationwide initiative designed to transform law enforcement response to children and families affected by trauma.

Federally funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s National Child Traumatic Stress Initiative, the TIP Center develops and delivers child trauma-informed training and technical assistance to law enforcement agencies and a broad range of other first responders nationwide.

The initiative emphasizes practical approaches and meaningful community partnerships aimed at mitigating both the immediate and longer-term negative effects of trauma exposure on children.

Through this work, the TIP Center is helping to foster stronger relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve, supporting positive outcomes for children, families, and first responders alike.
